Hey everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful week and are ready for the weekend!

I was inspired to make this card by Ann over at stamperdog.com, although her card was made using all Stampin up products. You can see her video here.

I came up with a similar card using the cricut " Walk in My Garden" cartridge for the flower, I also used the "Victoria" embossing folder and ran in through my cuttlebug, Emma's die set that come with her Banner die kit for the center of the flower and also the shape that the sentiment is on.
The "Handmade just for you by" Is also from Emma! The Happy Birthday is a stamp from Mike's dollar bin.

Emma's Design Team call

Emma is having a design team call so I thought I'd give it at shot... Im getting a late entry and the time is almost up...
I made these cute little Smore's treats for a Halloween Party tonight at my Son's ,when I got home I saw a reminder that time was running out so I sat down quickly and created this one using Emma's Die and Stamp.
The Scalloped circle and the circle was created with her die set called "Scallop &Stitched Circle and the Boo sentiment was stamped using her "Small Talk"stamp set. I just love all her products and if You don't know who Emma is hop over and check out her blog and awesome stamps and Dies!
I want to wish everyone good luck, what a honor it would be to represent her awesome products!

Mini Moster cards!

I made these cards lastnight for my little Grandsons.. I love the Mini Monster cartridge, it has such cute little monsters on it, Im thinking I cut the bat using the Simply charmed cartridge though.
I used action wobbles on all three, used my peachy keen monster mash stamp set and on the last card pictured I used googly eyes. I hope everyone has a safe and Happy Halloween!

Get started early on your Christmas list!!

These are so ~~cheap~~ reasonable and easy to make. Find some tile you like , just make sure its not shiny, the ink doesn't stick to well and also those kinds of tiles aren't absorbent like these travertine tiles I used. Use some permanent ink, such as stazon and stamp a imagine of your choice, I used the medallion stamp from stampin up and timber brown stazon ink. Put them in a preheated oven @ 350 degrees for 30 minutes to set the ink! They will take awhile to cool so be mindful of that, they get really hot, let cool then put some felt pads on the bottom to protect your furniture from getting marred by the rough tiles.

Flower pot ( I made it Myself Monday) with Alex

First of all, hope on over to You had be at Craft and check out the entries for Alex's first I made it myself Mondays!.

I made this cute little flower pot for Mother's Day for My Great Grandson's (yep, that's Bentley in the flower)Mom.

I started out by spray painting the pot and saucer (not in pic) with oil rubbed bronze,let it dry and added cream colored fleck to the pot and saucer using a toothbrush.

The flower was made using sizzix flower die and I sprayed it wirh blue sky glimmer mist, the stem with olive GM. I printed out the flower and punched it out using a 1 3/4 scalloped punch for Stampin Up, adhered it to the center using zip dry glue, added a resin lady bug to the stem of the flower, printed out the sentiment and attached it to a small piece of wood.

to get the flower to stand yup, I used floral wire and cut wooden stick to size and stuck it in some clay that I put in the pot, topped it off with some peat moss. She loved it!!!

Surprise Birthday Invitations

My Cousin Sherry will be turning 60 soon and her Duaghter is giving her a little suprise party and I had the pleasure of doing the invitations. I must say at first I was thinking "Oh No! What have I got myself into" But after I started on them and the ideas came to me , I really enjoyed making them, I made 20.

I bought the premade DCWV 5-1/2 X 5-1/2 card and envelope pack (in black) all the other paper uded is recollections form Michaels.The white flowers where stamped using a stamp from the dollar bin also at Mikes!

I have been looking for a new mouse pad for about a year,mine was getting really gross! I could never find one that I really liked, it was either the wrong color, too cheesey,to cutsie.....although this guy was kinda cute, he was just getting worn out! so this morning as I sat on the computer I looked over at it and thought ugh! this things gotta go!!!!

so I thought I would try something...

I peeled off the front, traced the shape onto some printed cardstock, glues it on the pad with zip dry, trimmed it a bit, inked around the edges and cut a piece of peel and stick laminate to fit,

applied that on top and volia!

Looks much better, don't you think? You could get really creative and do a digital layout and make a personalized mouse pad..give it a try!

I hope this works... I thought I would share this coupon for 50% off at Michaels this weekend! What will you get?? I'm looking for storage solutions for my mess of ribbon..... If you don't believe me here's the proof.

I notice I don't use ribbon much at all when making cards and I think it's because I become overwhelmed when I pull out my stash. If you have a good solution , please share and post a link in your comment.

I have thought about these and have even seen a cut file for something similar .... Anyone use these?

Tacky Tuesdays Challenge

I made this card for Tacky Tuesday over at Ruthie's

The challenge is to use the chick from the simply charmed cartridge.

Once again I used paper from my scrap box, with the exception of the card base which is SU.

I cut the chick at 3-1/4 on the shadow feature so I could stamp the eyes using Peachy Keen's Wide Eye Kids stamp set. I inked around the chick and other paper using Tim Holtz vintage photo distress ink, and added some white faux stitching. The sentiment is from a Stamp of Life stamp set from last Easter,also you can't tell but I used an action wobble for the Chick!

I just love butterflies, dont you? They have a very special meaning to me...

I lost my Mom to Lung cancer, July 17, 2003. In losing her I also lost a part of myself, it'something that forever change you. She was a beautiful woman inside and out, she always put her Family first and rarely thought of herself, which to me was sad. She never complained about anything, I mean anything. I sure didn't get that from her. ;)

The day we laid my Mom to rest , a butterfly as big as a tennis ball fluttered by and landed on her casket spray, and just rested there during the service. I remember hearing someone behind me gasp. After her funeral we all gathered at our home. We had lived there about 5 years and never before that day had I seen a butterfly in our backyard, as we all gathered on the patio, someone said something and I turned to see why they were all gathering around a bush. There rested on a branch, a Butterfly identical to the one at the gravesite service. I felt a sense of calm come over me. In the difficult months ahead it seemed a butterfly presented itself to me at times I need reassurance most.

To this day when I see a butterfly, may it be, real, a picture, on a card ... I still feel that sense of calm, and a gentle reminder that she will always be with me!

I just had a thought..... In Honor of my beloved Mom I'm going to make this post a giveway post too... Ok, UPDATE....Here are the details on this challenge giveaway!

I made this 3x3 mini card using the Two-Step Bird Punch, Full Heart Punch, the stamp sets used are XOXO, and the Punch Potpourri Hostess set. The sentiment was cut from a card that that Stampin'up included with a demonstrator order.

Here is a close up of the stamped hearts, I also used some glitter glue on the leaves and for the birds eye and I inked around all the edges with early espresso ink. I used the Uni-ball Signo gel pen for the white dots!

Merry Christmas everyone! I would like to say Thank you to Gale from The Happy Stamper for having me today for this fun blog hop!!! Thank you Gale!!!!

For my ornament I used the Tis the Season cricut cartride and cut out the bircage and birds on page 33 in the handbook at 31/2 inches. I traced it and cut out the striped pattern paper from DCWV

Tis the Season Stack. I then layered another set of birds on top and stamped them with a stampendousmusic score background stamp and inked them with vintage photo distress ink.
The little pointsettas where cute at 1/2 and 3/4 inches and stacked and glued, added some stickles and little beads for the center.

The picture isn't very good, sorry my camera is acting up.
Ok now for some blog candy!!!!

I thought this card turned out so cute!!! The cute little snowman is a colored digital image from Digital Delights by Louby Lou. You should go check out the site all Christmas Digitals are 50% off.

All the paper used on this card is from DCWV Tis the Season stack, with the exception of the base Kraft cardstock which called Crumb Cake from Stampin Up . The snowflakes are a punch by Martha Stewart,I added stickles to the snowman and some additional color with Stampin Up write markers, which I love!

The sentiment is computer generated ,using MS word Font.

OOOOO SO COLD

It has been so cold here the last few days. I think the freeze did in a few of my plants outside, ugh! Poor things... all could have been prevented if I had covered them.
I sat down and made a card lastnight and I think it turned out pretty cute, so I wanted to share it with everyone!

Isn't his little face the cutest thing ever!?? I used Peachy keens critter faces stamps. This cute little guy cut at 3 -1/2 inches using the Joys of the Seasons cartridge.
I cut the scalloped card shape with stampin up crum cake cardstock at 5 inches on my cricut using the wild card cartridge, The striped circle is from the DCWV Tis the Season stack, ut a 5-3/4 using mini monograms, The sentiment was printed out on my computer using MS Word. The label is Modern Label punch from Stampin up and the white one ifs also stampin up Word Window punch. I added some faux stitching with my white gel pen also from Stampin up
I joined Stampin up and became a demonstrator so if there is anything you need don't hesitate to ask.
If you have never used their products you are missing out, their products are wonderful and truly 5 STAR quality.

I had to make this cute little Turkey after seeing Wendy featured over at Ucreate . It was fun and easy, if you would like to see how it's made go here!!!
All, you need is a wood block cut from a 2X4, a five gallon paint stick found at Walmart for 28 cents, jumbo craft sticks, scrapbooking paper, craft paint,a feather, ribbon. Easy peasy. I used a glue stick instead of the modge podge to adhere the paper to the craft sticks, putting it on the stick instead of the paper made it alot easier for me.

CANDLE JAR MAKEOVER!

I had bought his vanilla cookie jar candle and shade at walmart last week,

I decided instead of keeping it I would give it a makeover and use it for one of the gifts at my soon to be Great Grandsons baby shower this weekend. I think it added some much need charm to it.

I cut the paper from a 12X12 sheet of paper from the autumn DCWV stack. I cut it 3 1/2 X12 ran it through my xyron .

Wrapped it aroung the jar. Tied some jute, then I cut the scalloped circle and the circle from the mini monigrams cricut cartridge.

Printed out the saying from my computer using MS word.

Easy Peasey sewing machine cover

This was so easy , a great project for a beginner. You dont need a pattern just measure the width and measure from the front bottom ,over the top to the back bottom,make sense? Add about a inch on each side to allow for your seams. It matches my cricut expression cover ...see...

Now, to figure out how to make a cover for my cuttlebug, time to do some googling, I'LL BE BACK!!!

I sat down this evening a made a cover for my expression using the free pattern at Customcrops. Click on the picture to see it better.

I think it turned out Ok for the first go at it... A few tips on the pattern.
The instructions say sew 1/2 seam allowance, it was a little loose so I did 5/8 and also unless you are adding binding at the bottom I would place the pattern pieces about 1/2 in from the fold to have more of an allowance for the hem.,mine came out a little short. Make sure you print them out at 100 percent. It helps if you watch the first few videos on custom crops, she will explain how to put the pattern peices together before cutting them out.
Overall, this is very easy and takes no time at all from start to finish. I hope you give it a try.

My Daughter is giving one of her co workers and baby shower and wanted me to make a gift for one of the games so I made this photo block yesterday. I love how this one turned out, just love the colors. They are so much fun and really easy.
I used my Xryron and ran the paper through it ,so much easier than modge podge,no worries about bubbles.

I have been so neglectful of my blog and I 'm so sorry, sometimes life gets in the way and we just don't make the time for the things that we love to do.
I made a card yesterday after seeing Mary's tutorial over at cardztv.blogspot.com. She is the absolute best and if you haven't checked out her videos please do yourself a favor and head on over, you will be glad you did.!
The paper I used is from the DCWV Latte collection, I love he colors and texture in this pack, I bought the mat stack at Joann's.

I used everyday paper dolls, image on page 37,all images cut at 3 inches.The face was stamped on using Peachy Keen's Basic Paper doll assortment package. The little fish is dangling from fishing string, all ready to be cleaned and fried!!!
The polka dot paper is from Complete Boy stack by My Mind;s Eye,all other paper is from basic grey bought at my local scrapbook store .I added a brad from Making Memories in the fishing pole reel.

The old vintage script background and the lady was found at The Graphic Fairy. I used Tim Holtz distress inks in walnut stain and peeled paint to make it look more vintage.

I made this Thank you card for My SIL who kindly rescued me when my Husband was at Nascar this past weekend. It seems like every time he goes out of town I have some sort of problem with this place, this time another water leak. Dave to the rescue!

Card using My Pink Stamper new stamp

Here is a card I made for my Daughter to say thanks for going to CHA with me. She isn't into crafting but she knew I really wanted to go so she drove me to LA and I think she actually enjoyed the make and takes. She said she would like to make her Daughters Birthday invitations .

As for the card I made it using Bazzill Quick sand as the base. Our stores don't carry the kraft colored card stock and this was as close as I could find. The printed heart paper in from American Crafts and is from the Romance collection and it called Love Triangles, The red is from the same paper (reverse side) I ran it through my cuddlebug with the the swiss dot folder, distressed and inked the edges. The little Birdie and flower piece is clipped on with a Tim Holtz spiral clip and the little Birdie graphic is from a business card I got at Cha! The stamp is from Robyn's new stamp collection,Simply Sweet Occasions which can be purchased at customcrops.com .

I made this today, it's my Grandson Nick. He had his winter formal lastnight and he went stag! He looked so handsome as you can see for yourself.

My husband cut the wood for me in 6 inch pieces, I sanded it a little, painted in black , let it dry and then sanded the edges a bit to make it look aged.

I adhered the paper and picture with my xyron, used some ink to sponges the edges of the paper. I used stazon ink to stamp the love image, which is important so it doesn't bleed after spraying with a sealer. Tied a ribbon around it ...DONE! What a easy gift. I'm giving this one to my Daughter.

I think I will put these in my Etsy store and offer them for 10.00 I think that's a good deal, don't you? I just need to make a few more samples then I will post them there for sale

I'm so excited...I just made my Hotel reservation for CHA (Craft and Hobby Association)in Anaheim,Ca. I will be going on Saturday and meeting some very special people... Get this!!!!! I will be meeting Robyn (aka My Pink Stamper) also Natalie and Miranda from Custom crops, Im sure many of you have watched their videos,if not you are really missing out girls.
Hopefully, I will have many pictures to share, anyone else going? Maybe we can meet up. If the invitations still open I will be having dinner with Robyn ,Karlee, Miranda and Natalie, Celebrities in the crafting blog world,really!

Not me, I was to excited and wanted to share with my bloggy friends, even my family doesn't know yet , don't ya feel so special?
I have decided to open up a Etsy shop and start selling some of my crafts there, it's still a work in progress though. I have been sick for a few days and it's really kickin my butt, however as soon as I feel better I will be the one "kickin butt" making my things and getting them listed in my store.
I just ordered some free Business cards from Vista print. I will keep you all posted and let you know when my Etsy store will be open for business. Anyone handy in making banners? I would like one to match the business card.

My Grandson Michael wanted me to help him make this for his friend Brian who lost his Mom, Debbie a year ago. I think that was such a nice thought and shows me what a beautiful heart he has, to be 19 and think of such a gift for a friend. I think it turned out awesome and I'm sure Brian will cherish it always!

A few little projects.

First of all I found this at Walmart and I tell you it has many uses and is a must have in our crafting stash!

It's an adhesive clear laminate on a roll , you can find it with the contact paper and it's made by Duck it's acid free so can be used with pictures, scrap booking, I used it on the project below and get this!!!!! It can be cut with the cricut. I used it with a normal blade and high speed and pressure, cut with no problem whatsoever! It can also be used to cut stencils on the cricut and way cheaper than the stuff cricut sells for that. It's like 5 bucks for a 12inch x 36ft. roll, can't beat that. If you can think of other uses please let us know!
If you are cutting words for stencil be sure to hit flip so the word will be facing the right way and the sticky part will be on the correct side.
I made some sugar scrub gift jars and I used it to laminate the paper I used. I bought the jar at walmart for 1.76 and I'm sure you could find something at your local dollar store.
If you want to make some just google homemade sugar scrub and take your pick, these make great inexpensive gifts! I used raw sugar, brown sugar, coffee, cinnamon and light olive oil. This stuff makes your skin feel so soft and makes your hands look years younger too!

It seems when I make something new it stays with me for awhile, taking a slight different direction. This one was done using a small canvas square that you buy at Micheal's for a Buck in the childrens craft section, works well for those of you that don't want to mess with cutting the wood. I painted it with some craft paint, printed out the picture on printer paper and I ran in through my *Xyron sticker maker and attached it to the canvas,sprayed it with a clear sealer and glued the ribbon on, easy peasy!!
These would make nice Christmas gifts.

* By the way I bought the 5 inch sticker maker at Walmart for 20.00, A MUST HAVE!

Fabric Pumpkins

I haven't done anything crafty in awhile and was really itching to do so.
So, I decided to try and make some of the fabric pumpkins I had seen around on different blogs.
These were fairly easy to make and requires very little sewing skills.

All you need to do it cut out a circle from some fabric and stitch a gathering stitch all the way around the edge of the circle and pull to gather forming a bowl like shape and fill with fiberfill, heck Im sure you could even skip the fiberfill and used crumbled up news paper.
After you get the desired amount of filling, gather tightly and stitch, making sure to leaving a small opening for a stem. Glue the stem in with glue, I used my hot glue gun.
Then decorate to your liking, again gluing everything with my glue gun.. I cut the leaves and the spider from the doodlecharm cartridge, used a cuttlebug embossing folder on the leaves and ran in through the cuttlebug, inked all of them with brown ink and lightly brushed with Perfect Pearls. Hideous Hutch...Please help!

I mentioned yesterday about the built-in hutch I want to paint and I'm not sure what color I should do. My dining room table is black. Should I paint it black,will that be too much black, how much is too much black? I'm planning on leaving the top doors with the glass off and maybe wallpapering the inside of the shelving area. The bottom doors and drawers will be fixed in some way to where you don't see the details on them,maybe like I did the kitchen cabinets, plus add new hardware.

Please give me your ideas, I'm really lost on this one, maybe because I'm not sure I'd be satisfied with whatever I do to this ugly thing!

Today is my neighbor Carrell's 91st birthday. Him and his wife live by themselves and have no family here,they have one son who lives in Texas and he's trying to convince them to move there. They really need some help and I got them signed up for meals on wheels and help getting to their appointments.
I have really grown close to them and try and help as much as they will let me. I take hot food to them every few days , they forget to eat and recently Carrell has been getting dizzy and falling.
The ambulance came last week and it scared me to death, they took him ,checked him out but he wouldn't stay like they wanted him too.
Carrell served in WWII was at Pearl Harbor when in was attacked, he has alot of interesting stories to tell and I love hearing everyone of them.
Happy Birthday to a very very special Man!

By the eek blocks below to make this cute Faith shelf sitter. I think it turned out pretty cute and was easy peasy
and fun too!

I just traced aroung the piece of wood on a piece of decorative paper then cut it out, set aside, paint all the exposed wood with my craft paint and a sponge brush,let dry. I then used Mod Podge , Applying it to the back of the paper then positioning the paper on the wood and smoothing it out, I use a small wooden rolling pin I bought at Michaels for a buck to roll over the paper and smooth it out. Let dry, then sand the edges, in downward strokes only so the paper don't lift or tear.
I used my alphalicious cartridge for the fonts just glued them on with my Scotch scrapbookers glue,love this stuff!

To fight to find a cure for this horrid disease.
On August 1st my eleven year old Grandson Beau was taken to the emergency room very ill, it was there he was diagnosed with a grave condition called DKA(DIABETIC KETOACIDOSIS) he was airlifted to LA where he was put in PICU and remained there fo four days so they could get his blood sugar stabilized.
Beau has been through so many changes since that day and he will be insulin defendant the rest of his life, anywhere from 3-5 shots daily...not to mention all the pokes to test his Blood sugar. However, he has been such a trooper and is doing well now and with the help of his devoted family he will face the daily challenges ahead with everyone's support.

I will be participating in the JDRF(Juvenile diabetes research foundation) walk on November 7th in Beau's honor along with other friends and family members. Our team is called "Beau's Battalion"

My desk rehab

I posted last week about a desk I wanted to check out from craiglist that was for sale for 35.00 ...well I bought it and sanded it down and painted it black. It turned out OK....not great. looks kinda blah,maybe some new knobs or I was thinking about buying some wood to make a new top for it and staining it cherry.
I don't know....maybe it just needs some colorful accessories, I will think about it for a few days.

Kitchen makeover

Before picture...can u say UGLY!

This has taken me forever to get done and it's almost there!!! I just have to paint the trim above the countertop and behind the fridge.... boy, this has been a back breaking experience for me, but the end results are so worth it to me and you will see why in the before and after pictures below. It's a far cry from a designer kitchen....none the less , I LOVE IT! because it was such a challenge for me, as I have mentioned before I love making some yucky into something we can enjoy.
it's hard to believe that this are the same particle board cabinets. I filled in the etching with putty, sanded it down, the primed, wallpapered,primed ,and painted them, so much work, my the end result is so much more pleasing to the eye, don't ya think?

The above picture is of the kitchen when we bought this mobile home in 2007 when real estate was through the roof, we paid 150 grand ( can you believe that ?) for the 1978 MH on it's own lot. Right now it's probably worth a lot less and we could get a nice home for that price in today's market....oh well.

Paper cutz first challenge!!

Here is my card for Paper cutz green and pink challenge. I'm knew at card making and it takes me forever to put it all together.,although I think I'm getting a little better at it.
Paper used is from me&my big ideas. After having my cuttlebug for a few months I finally took it out of the box and used it and I absolutely love it! I used the swiss dots embossing folder on the green card stock at the top of the card and lightly sanded it.
The 'For my Husband " sentiment was cut from a old store bough card, stamped sentiment,ribbon, and the rhinestones are all from the dollar bin at Michael's.
I embossed the pink swill with embossing powder, the swirl itself was cut using the Graphically speaking cricut cartridge.

Tile message display

I made this cute little message board last night from a 49 cent 6x6 tile, I used the graphically speaking cricut cartridge for the deco... . Have I mentioned how much I love that cartridge? Is has so many different things on it and these work well with my coffee themed kitchen.
I used my 2 way zig pen to adhere it to the tile, added cork on the back for a finished look and a ribbon to hold a dry erase pen, you can use a marker also on the ceramic, wipes clean with a damp paper towel. I picked up a little wooden easel at Michael's to display it on.

One thing... make sure you buy a tile with a glossy sheen.

Now, make me get back to work on finishing my kitchen!!!

I just finished my Mother in Law's birthday card. She will be turning 80 on the 24th.
They are giving her a surprise birthday party she is going to be so happy. My husband is flying out there and will be at the party when she arrives. I wish I could be there, but..er. well... I have never flown and just can't get past my fears of flying...so, Geri I will be there in spirit! ;)

Thirft store finds

Isn't this chair hideous? I love taking something this ragged and turn it into something nice. I'm going to sand it down,paint it,and recover the seat. I got it for 3 bucks! Watch for after pics!

It may be awhile though, I promised myself I would finish painting my kitchen cabinets this week. watch for before and after picture of my kitchen...It has completely wore me out and I will be so relived when it's done...did I mention my aching back?
I always have some sort of project in the works, I'm going to go look at a desk I saw on craiglist this evening..... it needs to be refinished , however it is 63 inches long and would be perfect for my crafting. It's seems a steal for 30.00 bucks...we shall see!

I was so sure I had become a millionaire when I spotted this. A girl can dream right?
It's a framed copy of the Declaration of Independence. Someone had it professionally framed at a art gallery so I was for sure it must be a valuable copy, after researching it on the internet ...wellllll, I'm not so sure after all...ugh!

One Man's trash

Is another Man's treasures........

These cement critters where left here when we moved to this place a few years ago and I just love them, to some they may be trash but to me they are a part of someones history.
Yes, they are chipped, missing parts, but to me that's what makes them a found treasure. My mind often wonders when I see old things, I think of it's history and the joy they brought to someone else. I wonder if these have had several owners, how old they are or what their origin is, if they could speak what stories they would have to tell.
I'm reminded of this too when I use my Mom's old metal measuring cup she used to measure her sugar for her sweet tea, or when I look at my Dad's dog tags he wore around his neck in World War 11, he served in New Guinea... now they would have a story to tell I'm sure.

It's funny how something so worn and useless to others can become a treasure to us. Do you have any treasures?

I made this little pencil holder this evening after seeing one posted here able mabels
Be sure to check out her cute little magnets for sale.

The little owls are so in right now and just to ding dang cute... I have always loved owls.
I took a piece of wood and cut it down with my husbands skill saw, whoa... that thing scares the heck out of me. Power tools with such force aren't my thing, now the drill I don't mind. I drilled a hole in the top to hold the pencil, sanded it down and then painted the top and bottom with some craft paint. I then cut the paper to fit, decoupaged it on and waited for it to dry and sanded the edges. I used Tim Holtz tea dye distress ink around the edges. The paper is from We R Memory Keepers, the white out collection, the little owl is from a package of dimensional.

Altered Cross

Here it is... see picture below in previous post to see what I started with.

Here is how I did it.
I first took the flower off by inserting a butter knife under it and prying up a little moving around the whole flower being gentle so it didn't break. Once it was off I gave it a quick sanding using fine grit sand paper, to get in the small areas I tightly wrapped the sandpaper around my bone folder.
After sanding I dusted it off with a old rag then I laid the cross down on the paper I choose to cover it with and traced closely with a pencil and then cut it out. I then applied Mod Podge to the cross and let it set for about for about 30-45 seconds then carefully placed the paper on and rubbed it down with my fingers, paying careful attention to the edges going over them several times. I used a small craft rolling pin to smooth it down really well working out any bubbles that might form.
Keep a eye on it for about 10 minutes in case bubbles form you can work them out while it's still wet.

Let it dry for a few hours.

Once dry trim around the edges with a pair of small scissors, you don't have to be too precise the sanding will remove the rest. Now take your sandpaper and wrap it around a bone folder or whatever else you have on hand and sand all around the edges moving in a downward motion only! If you sand in a upward motion it will loosen and tear the paper. Sand until the paper and wood looks like it's become one and it is free of any loose fibers from the paper.

Then decorate to your liking. Oh, I forgot "FAITH" was printed out on regular printer paper using the batik regular font. I then took the paper cross that I traced and cut it in half right below the cross part and lined it up on the printed piece then taped it on and ran it back through the printer. Did that make sense?
I guess you could do that step before cutting it out, I didn't think of it until it was cut. If you have any questions. let me know.

Long forgotten

I was looking through some boxes that I had packed up since we moved here two years ago and found this wooden cross that I had bought at Walmart... ummm probably six years ago.
I just never got around to doing anything with it so I think this will be my project for this evening. Hubby had to go to Nevada on business so it's just me and the furkids tonight.

I hope this inspires you to get out a long forgotten project and get the creativity flowing. I will post some pictures when I finish.

Father's Day card

I had seen this layout somewhere on you tube and I have searched and searched to give credit, couldn't find it again.
The sentiments were created in word then printed out on white card stock, the card itself is half a sheet of card stock folded in half and then the top folded in half onto itself, I hope that makes since.

Our Favorite Children

Sissy needed some new harness vests to take on vacation so I sewed her a few today. She wasn't up to modeling ... bad hair day! However, here is a picture of Rocco our male yorkie. I just love this picture, he loves ice cream and as you can see he is waiting ever so patiently. They both are a handful and spoiled rotten!! I don't know who's fault that is ;)

In Memory of my Mother

Isn't it funny how you will start a project with something in mind and it takes a new direction? I started this thinking I was going to make a memo/recipe holder for my kitchen which is done in a coffee theme..lol

It will be six years ago on the 17th that I lost my Mom to lung cancer. Not a day goes by that I don't think of and miss her terribly, at times it seems like only yesterday and sometimes like forever... What I wouldn't give to hear her laugh, have a glass of her sweet tea with her at her kitchen table,one last hug..... I could go on and on.
Grief is a funny thing ... some days it seems like you are getting past the sadness that has taken over your heart and then with the blink of the eye, it's back,full force.
Please, cherish every moment you have with your parents, I have often said "No matter how old you are when they are gone you feel orphaned."

I mentioned a few days ago that I had a secret, well...here it is. I have been wanting one and I had a 50% off coupon so once again I headed to Michael's ..hehe What choice did I have, with the coupon? Some may not have a Michaels craft store , I'm pretty sure it's the same chain as hobby lobby in other states.
I want to get some embossing folders for it they are really inexpensive especially if you catch a good sale at Joanns.com . I haven't even taken it out of the box yet, sooo much going on and I have been a little sick the last few days.

This project was easy to make and fun too! I bought the 6x9 clipboard at Michaels for 1.99 and I really like the fact that the metal clip is screwed on and not riveted like most.
It makes it much easier to decorate it and also if you choose spray paint the clip which I did on this one. The green tag is cut from the Walk in my Garden cartridge and as you can see I weaved ribbon through the stitch cut out and stamped it with a stamp from the dollar bin ,again at Michaels. Gotta love those deals!

Walk in my Garden

I was playing around this evening with the " Walk in my Garden" cartridge and made a magnet. This was my first time using Tim Holtz's distress ink and I really like it. The color used here was tea stain. All the paper used was from the Old World collection from DCWV... I LOVE IT!!

I made another trip to Michael's today and bought a few things....... Oh boy! I think I need to get a job to support this new addiction ;)

The UPS tracking said it wouldn't be here until tomorrow,but it came a few hours ago. I already set it up and have been playing with it ,trying to figure it all out. This is going to be sooooo much fun! Stay tuned for my first card.

I bought several of these little unfinished wood picture holders at Michael's a few weeks ago and had intended on doing them for Mother's Day gifts but didn't get around to it. I did however make some makeup bags with matching tissue holders and key fobs. I wish I had taken pictures. Anyhow, I need some ideas on how to decorate these.
Any thoughts?

These were so fun and easy

I went to Lowe's and bought some ceramic tiles for about .65 cents each and decoupaged pictures and images printed out from my printer with modge podge. I also used decorative paper from DCWV (Die cuts with a view) and printed out the quote on the Sister tile and tea stained the paper to make it look aged.
When they dried I spray a few coats of sealer I buy from Walmart for about 1.50 a can.
You can buy a little metal easel to display them as shown in the pictures.
The first one I made for a Yorkie lover friend and the second one I made to give to my Sister Barbara when she came from Oklahoma for a visit.

These make nice gifts which can be personalized many,many ways, best of all just for under a few bucks!
I used to this technique to make a set of coasters too using smaller tiles.
